IMPORTANT NOTICE

Aloha Members of IBEW Local 1260 in the State of Hawaii:

As you may know, there is the possibility of a Labor Strike of IBEW Local 1357 against Hawaiian Telecom.  Moving forward, I wanted to communicate to all of our members in the State of Hawaii that you are all under a Collective Bargaining Agreement with your respective Companies.  There is language in all of your contracts that prohibit you from any type of work stoppage.  As your Business Manager/Financial Secretary, I want to make sure that all of you are aware of your obligations under your current Union Contracts.

The Local Union also understands that unsafe work conditions may arise that will prohibit you from working, such as having to cross a picket line or any number of other potentially unsafe conditions.  I strongly urge all of you to maintain a safe work environment, report any unsafe conditions to your immediate supervisor and be sure that they understand the unsafe activity, and request from your supervisor the course of action that should be taken.

I would also request that all of us in Local 1260 reach out to our Brothers & Sisters in Local 1357 and ask how we can help, whether it be by walking the picket line or making a personal donation of some kind.   It is incumbent upon all of us to support our fellow union members in a professional way while also adhering to the conditions set forth in our current contracts.

Thank you for your support.

Brian F. Ahakuelo - Business Manager/Financial Secretary
