Dear Brothers and Sisters:

The IBEW International President Lonnie Stephenson issued a directive to all International Vice Presidents to work with the local unions in managing the risk associated with the Covid-19 pandemic – including but not limited to requests to cancel and/or postpone membership meetings.

After obtaining approval by the International Office, Local 1260 is cancelling all membership meetings (Hawaii Guam and Wake Island) effective immediately. We are taking this precaution in accordance with local, state, and federal health recommendations, which we believe is in the best interest of our members, our community, and the world at large. We are closely monitoring the situation in Hawaii, Guam, Wake Island, the Mainland, and internationally and will take appropriate action to reinstate membership meetings when conditions improve.

This is unquestionably an unprecedented time as the spread of COVID-19 has altered the way both we and in fact, the world does business. Our Local Union is built on the belief that there is great power in coming together but in this extraordinary time, we must prioritize the safety of our members and family. We are determined to get back to normalcy as soon as it is safe to do so.

As you are aware, our Local Union’s election for Local Officers, Executive Board, and Delegates to the 2021 IBEW International Convention will be held in June 2020. You recently received a Notice of Election in the U.S. Mail with details on the nomination process at the April 2020 general membership meetings. Due to the cancellation of membership meetings, the NEW ELECTION and NOMINATION NOTICES will be sent out very shortly.

In solidarity,

Russell Takemoto, Business Manager-Financial Secretary
